 10:00am Shirvanshah’s Palace Visit the historical museum of Shirvanshah’s and Shirvanshah’s Palace

Shirvanshah’s Palace is the largest monument of the Shirvan-Absheron branch of the Azerbaijan architecture, situated in the Old City, also calls “Inner City” of Baku. The complex contains the main building of the palace, “Divanhane”, the burialvaults, the shah’s mosque with a minaret, “Seyid Yahya Bakuvi’s” mausoleum, a portal in the east – Murad’s gate, a reservoir and the remnants of the bath-house.

The Palace of the Shirvanshahs is a 15th-century palace built by the Shirvanshahs and described by UNESCO as “one of the pearls of Azerbaijan’s architecture

12:00am The National Carpet Museum of Azerbaijan, which constitutes the material and spiritual heritage of the people of Azerbaijan, is the largest carpet collection in terms of the value and importance of the rare carpets in the world’s treasure, and the first, prestigious, specialized museum on carpet art.

The museum includes 7 collections: “Pile carpets”, “Pileless carpets”, “Carpet products”, “Art metal”, “Ceramics, glass, wood, paper”, “Fabric, clothing, embroidery” and “Jewelry”.

 The structure of the building is intended to look like a rolled carpet. Designed by Austrian architect Franz Janz, the building took over six years to construct. The previous structure, a building of historical significance, was destroyed to make way for the new building.

01:30pm Next Walk – Baku Bay Cruise, Ferris Wheel Boulevard, The Flame Towers, Highland park

 Located on the mountainside, the city is built on the principle of an ancient amphitheater, a multi- level, semicircle surrounding th Caspian Sea coast.

Highland Park is one of the most famous and interesting sights in Baku. The park with spacious staircases, shady alleys and cozy terraces. The terrace offers the most beautiful views of the city, such as the Ferris Wheel Boulevard.

 03:00pm Strolling around Nizami Street and time lunch, free walk time

 Tour time 09:00am-07:00pm Baku – Absheron Peninsula – Gobustan – Baku (Azerbaijan)

Where we’ll visit the Gobustan National Park Petroglyphs Museum to learn about the park’s amazing petroglyphs, which date back to 10,000 BC. More than 4,000 pictures of animals, humans, natural life experiences, hunting, and dancing were carved over a span of thousands of years. The experts do not interpret this lack of facial features as an indication that the Gobustan artists lacked technical skill, since some of the carvings demonstrate a higher degree of complexity and detail.

In June 1948, the chief of the archaeological expedition of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan discovered a Latin inscriptions. Most experts consider this inscription to be an indisputable proof of the presence of Roman troops in the eastern part of Transcaucasia in late 1st century BC.

 An alternative theory suggests that the inscription might have been left by a Roman centurion who carried out a secret intelligence or diplomatic mission

Excursion – ancient fire worshipers

 05:00pm He Ateshgah fire temple in Surakhany Hamlet is our next destination. Before we visit Yanardag Mountain, where natural gas has been burning for thousands of years.

Suharan Temple of Firemen – Ateshgyah – a cult architectural complex of ancient civilizations of Sikhs, Hindus, Zoroastrians, built on the site of inflamed exits from the earth’s crust of natural gases. More than a decade ago, he was given the status of a historical and architectural reserve.

06:00pm Yanar Dagh (‘burning mountain’) is a natural gas fire which blazes continuously on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula on the Caspian Sea near Baku.

Flames jet into the air 3 metres (9.8 ft) from a thin, porous sandstone layer. Administratively, Yanar Dagh belongs to Absheron District of Azerbaijan.

These places are outside the city of Baku, distance 20-30 km\ tour time 4 – 5 hours

Day 4 (05 April, 2024)

  • Kish village
  • Sheki (check-in)

 08-00am Travel to Shamakha. Visit historical Juma Mosque, the 5th century place rich in it’s historic and architectural values.

While the current structure was reconstructed in 2013, the earliest version was built way back in 743AD, making this the second oldest mosque in the Caucasus and the oldest in Azerbaijan.

12:00pm – 03:00pm Visit the historical city of Gabala and enjoy the beauty of nature.

03:00pm- 07:00pm continue driving to Sheki. Visit Albanian church in Caucasus in the village Kish dating back to the 1st century AD. Check in to the hotel and overnight in Sheki.

 10-00 Chek out in hotel. Before driving to the Georgian border, we’ll spend the day seeing Sheki, including the city’s historic castle, Sheki Khans Palace and Sheki Karvan Saray.

The Palace of Shaki Khans was a summer residence for the Shaki khans. It was built in 1797 by Muhammad Husayn Khan Mushtaq. The palace was intended to house the khans who were in charge of controlling Shaki, as viceroys of the ruling Zand and later Qajar Persian dynasties around 1750 until the time when these territories were annexed by the Russian Empire per the treaty of Gulistan in 1813 after the Russo-Persian War (1804–1813).
